Our Criteria

EPIC Restart Foundation Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria April 2026

EPIC Restart Foundation is for adults affected by gambling harms who are ready to engage in recovery-focused support and can take part safely in our peer-led, strengths-based recovery coaching model.

Inclusion Criteria

EPIC Restart Foundation is suitable for people who:

• Have been affected by gambling harms directly or affected by someone else’s gambling
• Are 18 years old and over and live in the UK
• Are motivated to engage in recovery, make positive change, and achieve a stable recovery
• Have the capacity to consent and participate safely
• Can take part safely in our peer-led, strengths-based recovery coaching model

Exclusion Criteria

EPIC Restart Foundation is unsuitable for people who:

• Are experiencing an acute mental health crisis requiring urgent clinical care, including suicidal ideation within the last four weeks
• Present an immediate risk of harm to themselves or others
• Are partaking in substance use or behaviour that prevents safe participation
• Are unwilling to follow safeguarding or behavioural boundaries
• Do not respect confidentiality or the safety of others in the group
• Have support needs that fall outside what EPIC Restart Foundation can safely and responsibly provide

If EPIC Restart Foundation is not the right service for someone, we will communicate this clearly and compassionately, and where appropriate, offer signposting or a referral to more suitable support rather than simply excluding them.
